Despite the traditional stereotype of blondes being a bit ditzy, it’s now emerged that they actually earn more money than women with other hair colors. We won’t indulge in what have been happening in the past but nowadays trends are changing. Blondes are becoming a brand and their demand in terms of attraction is also increasing. In eastern countries where there are rare natural blondes, we have seen a sharp rise in ladies going blonde. Its not all ambiguous, being blonde has certain perks too.
Fair-Haired Women
Women with healthy blonde locks are dispelling that ditsy image and new research has now revealed that blonde women, on average, earn seven percent more a year than their other colored counterparts. Not only that but the research also showed that fair-haired women also tend to marry wealthier men who earn an average of six percent more than the husbands of other women.
The study was conducted by the University of Queensland who used 13,000 women in their research and found that even when other factors such as education, height and weight were removed that the difference in fair-haired women earning more each year remained the same.
Dr David Johnston, who led the study said: Blonde women are often depicted as being more attractive than other women, but also less intelligent, said Dr David Johnston. “But it seems the association between blondes and beauty dominates any perception that they have low intelligence,” he added.
In addition to this, the stereotype of ‘blondes has more fun’ seems to be going strong after a recent poll by Asda showed that 90 percent of men still believed that fair-haired women are sexier and tend to have more fun. It’s only a few studies but we wonder how many women will be reaching for the hair dye after reading the results?
