There are, or there were, sectors in the US ruling class that preferred a non-imperialist America, but they were defeated. Now history may be giving Americans a second chance at reconstructing their society along far more wholesome lines. |

America is not exceptional. It is a technologically highly developed society without much advancement in human civilization and culture. Life is efficient in the US but empty as many writers have commented on. But its power comes from the enormous wealth created by its population and channeled into private pockets which agreed fully with the previously powerful European continent.
