The globalists, suggests Garland, have created a new form of "internationalism".  But, true to its capitalist DNA, this internationalism does not issue from the noble desire of humanity to put a stop to the age-old nationalist propensity to war (one of the reasons adduced to justify the creation of the EU as a supranational entity), but as a reflection of a highly mobile, essentially rootless international class that sees the entire world as its natural sphere of predation and enrichment, just as capitalism itself does, since the system does not recognise borders nor special political, cultural or economic norms as legitimate constraints to its "natural" pathological dynamics. —PG
